I have been looking at the baby slings and am so overwhelmed! I think I like the
moby wrap the best because it goes over both shoulders. I'm just not sure if I might like one of the Maya type ones better, or have even looked at patterns to make one. Can you ladies that have used these things let me know what you think? All of the baby stuff is so overwhelming for me!

My theory is that baby wearing "slings" are like shoes. You need one for every occasion! In the early days I really likes my Hotsling for quick and easy in and out. I also used my Moby wrap for longer walks and cleaning the house etc. As he got a bit older I really liked my ring sling for quick and easy in and out and my Mei Tai for out and about. Now I mostly just use my Ergo for walks and still pull out my ring sling every once in a while. Maybe you can look around for a baby wearing group in your area. We have one here and they were lifesaving, not only for the babywearing advice, but for the new mama friends and support. Good luck with your search!
Natalie bought me a New Native baby carrier for Amelia and I have used it for all three babies. She also made me a Mei Tai which I use for hikes. My favorite is still the New Native, I think they are also called pouch slings. It comes in organic cotton which is a plus. I have never tried the Maya wrap (ring sling) but I know some moms swear by them. I just never wanted that much material on me but it might be good for you because it is colder in Portland.
Good luck!

I have a New Native too and love it. I still put Liesl in it every once in a while. I also have the Ergo and I really like it. It was great for when Liesl would not let me put her down so I would just strap her to my back.
