Adelaide's first day of SCHOOL!

We were all very excited about Adelaide's first day of school. It was a big day for all of us, but especially for her. She goes to a co-op pre-school, so all of the parents have a job there. We are lucky and our job is to take pictures. Myles got to sneak back at the end of her school day to get some pictures of her and her class for their website. She had so much fun, and can NOT wait to go back again. She was a bit of a stinker when she got home. I think she was probably a bit overwhelmed by the whole experience, but I know she will love her school.

What will Emmylou do without her sister all day?

Her teacher was there to meet her at the door.

The first thing she does each morning is write her name.

Emmylou is half a year

Time goes way to fast with the second baby. I don't have as much time to just sit and watch her, and oh how my soul misses that. I am in awe of both of my girls, and can't believe it's already time for little Lua to begin tasting solid foods, sitting up alone, and becoming more and more herself.

She is such a happy girl. She loves watching Adelaide more than ANYTHING else. Adelaide can make her laugh like nothing else can. She is almost able to sit up alone, but topples over easily still. She has two teeth (the two on the bottom) but is always drooling and teething a lot. She is still a really great sleeper at night. She gets up around 7:30 or so, takes 3 -4 short naps a day, and goes to bed around 6:30pm. I nurse her when I go to bed, and then maybe once again somewhere in the night (I don't really wake up to do it) and that is it. She is so easy to take care of! She rarely cries, and loves to play on her playmat on the floor, looking at her toys and scooting around. She is getting really good at scooting!
She wears 6 or 9 month clothes, although I have pulled out all of the 12-18month sizes and she wears that just as well. She is so tall and pretty slim, although I feel like she is getting chubby again, so will probably get taller again soon. You know how babies grow...out and then up! At least mine do.
Emmylou likes to sing her own songs, and Adelaide can get her to yell loud too. She has just started dancing a lot and moving her body when someone sings to her, or if she hears music. I think we have another music lover on our hands. I have heard her say Mama many times, but I don't think it's on purpose, although I pretend that it is. We tried to give her sweet potatoes once, but she wasn't really ready yet, so we will try again soon. I'm not in a hurry this time around.

Lua loves to be outside. She likes to look at the trees and plants, she loves her kitties, and loves to pull grass out of the ground and try to eat it. (She did eat some in fact, please don't ask me how I know this....and it wasn't because I saw her put it in her mouth). I just love her so much and can't wait to learn more about who she is. Sweet sweet baby girl of mine.

Emmylou's 6 month blessing

Adelaide and I wanted to give Emmylou a blessing for her half-birthday. We like to bless each other, our home, and our family using the plants that grow in our yard. We always make sure to ask their help in blessing us as we pick them and add them to our bowl. Here is what we gathered for Emmylou.

We also made her a sweet crown, much like the ones we made on Solstice. We made it from lavender, mint and sage, then added some flowers to make it match her dress.

She was such a pretty girl! Then when Myles came home, we all came out on the front lawn and sat in a circle. We light a candle, and each talked about what we wish for Emmylou in the upcoming months. We wished for good health, lots of giggles, and many other things. Adelaide wished for her to have mama's flip-flops???!!!

We then blessed her with our special tea, made from the sweet plants and fresh air in the yard, and when we were done we buried the plants in our garden to help it grow healthy and strong, just like what we wished for our baby girl. (We are total crazy hippies....I KNOW!)

The BEST video EVER

Emmylou has learned to giggle - and there is only one person that can make her laugh so hard. (This was the first time she laughed like this!)

Summer Solstice Celebration at Megans House

We got together with some of our dear friends to celebrate the beginning of Summer. It was a perfect day, full of friends and plenty of activities to keep me and the other mama's busy.

Making Sun Crowns for the children. I think us mama's were way more into making them then the kids were. It was SO FUN!

I might have gone a little over-board on Adelaide's sun crown

Megan and Phoenix who welcomed to their house for the day

They all had little wands too

I really love Adelaide's smile in this picture

Here we all are! Jeremiah was there for a while too - he took the picture.

Emmylou wanted to eat Adelaide's crown

My girls make me SO HAPPY!

We dried citrus in the solstice sun, so we could have some summer sun to bring indoors in the winter.
