This weeks favorites
Adelaide is always changing - so I thought this might be fun...
Here are her favorites for the week:
Food = frozen peas
Word = "up" except she says it over and over "up, up" "up, up"..and kinda leaves the "p" off most of the time =)
Toy = Stuffed Frog prince
Bother = Both of her top front teeth are cutting through right now!
Song = If your happy and you know it...
Place = Playing at the stairs that lead to the kitchen

update on language and jammie photo's
Adelaide is now crawling on her knees like a big girl! She points at things when she wants you to take her to look at them (like pictures on the wall). She also tries to do her sign language for milk, airplane, all done, water, and up. She also says "hi", "up" and "uh-oh" if she drops something. She also says mama and dada and waves hi and bye. Here are some cute pictures of her in her jammies and her fuzzy bear outfit.

A weekend with Grandpa Don and Ming-te
We had a fun filled weekend with Myles dad and his new wife Ming-te. The weather was perfect so we were outside a lot. Myles took some amazing pictures! We started off Saturday at the Japanese Garden here in Portland. It was so beautiful. I can't wait to go back again in the fall. I know it will be gorgeous!

Next we walked over to the Rose Garden. Portland is the "city of roses" - so we had to show off the gardens. It was beautiful. Here is little miss Rosie face =)

twinkle toes taking a rest in the grass...

And we ended the night with a delicious dinner at the German Restaurant. It was a great day!

Adelaide just LOVES this keyboard, microphone toy that her Granny Joan got for her. She tries to sing with the songs, dances and plays the keys =) She is a real music lover!

Jessie, Austin Lucas and Mike Hale
Today my sister came to see Adelaide! It was a long trip from Florida, so we had to pack in as much fun as possible! She got here tonight and we took Adelaide to her first music show... Austin Lucas and Mike Hale were playing an acoustic show at a wine bar in Oregon City, and it was all ages. Perfect for a baby! We have been listening to Mike Hale and the bands he has been in for several years now, both Myles and I love him. Austin Lucas is kind of new to us, Myles has probably been listening to him for a couple of years now...but he is so amazing! If you click on either name I have linked to their page so you can hear them. Adelaide loved to watch them sing and see everyone clap, although she seemed a little confused about why everyone was looking at them instead of at her. Here is a picture of her with both of them.

She was tired by the end, but had a good time. She really loves music, she loves to sing and dance around. I want to give her every opportunity I can to learn to play music and to love it as much as Myles and I do. I always thought it would be fun to be one of those families that sits around and sings songs together. With so many friends that have bands, you would think we would have the chance more often.
10 Months
I have been SO BAD at keeping up with this blog lately...and I'm sad about that because it seems like so much has been happening with Adelaide's development. She has really grown and changed a lot in the last month or so. Last weekend her Granny and Jerry were here, and today my sister comes to finally meet her. We have a busy month with family visiting..but that hasn't changed the fact that Adelaide keeps growing and changing. Here is what's new with her:
She is starting to crawl on her knees more. She still does the army scoot crawl when she wants to get somewhere fast...but has figured out the knee crawl too, it's just still a little hard for her I think.
She can also sit up from a crawl now on her own. She is very proud, and each time she does this she throws both arms into the air once she is sitting.
Her second tooth finally appeared two days ago. It's still just a sliver in the gums, but it's through which is good. She has been biting on everything and has also had a hard time sleeping, and I think this is why.
We got a new bed for her - the Kanoe which is really nice. I wish I had bought this when she was born instead of the other swing bed we got, or her crib really. We haven't really even used the crib, which makes me sad because it's so beautiful, but Adelaide sleeps with us at night, and naps in the swing bed.
Adelaide is now saying "hi" but without the H sound...so it's like "eye". She says it to everyone we pass in the store, on the street etc. She also waves at everyone. She is so cute and smily, she gets a lot of attention from strangers. I can't wait to hear what she will have to say once she can really talk.

When 9 months are almost over
I can't believe Adelaide's birthday is only two months away! It seems I've had her a lifetime, yet only a few weeks at the same time. I can't believe how much she has grown, learnt, done, pooped, eaten, taken her time falling asleep...and the list goes on. We have an appointment with Cathryn next week, but until then I can update on the things that I know and want to remember.
First off, Adelaide is still not crawling with her belly off the floor. She has been scooting around on her belly for months, and has gotten really good at at, and fast! She has taken just a couple of "steps" on her knees, but seems to think she's faster at the scoot. I don't mind if it takes her several more months to learn to crawl correctly, I'm just not ready for her to walk yet.
The solids have been going good, although she doesn't like anything new really, and only wants to eat avocado mixed with yogurt (which I try to sneak in other stuff sometimes like nutritional yeast or ground flax or sunflower seeds), Sweet Potatoes and Broccoli and sometimes Kale. I guess I can't complain because all of this is healthy. Today I tried to give her Beets again - she refused after the first bite. Same with dried apricots that I stewed and pureed for her. Same with Rice cereal, prunes, squash, etc. Her very favorite thing is the O's cereal that I've been giving her. She LOVES to feed herself. She also LOVES pizza crust to chew on. I try to be creative with the finger foods, but it's hard because everything is so slippery that she can't pick it up. I've given her pieces of honeydew melon, kiwi, mango, etc and she can't pick it up. Today I scrambled some egg yolk for her to feed herself, and thought she ate it all, but then found most of it in her lap when I took her out of the highchair. I'm not sure if she didn't like it, or just couldn't quite get it in her mouth.
As for sleeping, she is doing an excellent job at night, however refuses to go to bed until we do. I know this will have to change eventually, and I try every night to get her to sleep at a normal time, but she just won't do it. Maybe she is afraid of the dark? I try night lights, music, noise machine, the fan, the air conditioner....nothing works. She is also too small for her swing bed, but we are using it until we get the new one we ordered. I hope that helps. She is also harder to get to sleep for her naps sometimes. Today I thought she might be ready to only have 2 naps a day, but I think it was a bad idea. She's looked tired all day, and doesn't seem to be as happy, so we are back to at least 3 naps a day starting tomorrow.
She is so interactive, she laughs at me all of the time, and has been giving me kisses each morning for the past few weeks. Today she figured out how to make fart noises by blowing on my arm and was cracking herself up. She also laughs at herself each time she goes to taste Buddha...she never gets her mouth all of the way on him because his fur tickles her mouth too much that she cracks up and moves.
