Poor little sicky
There is nothing sweeter than waking up in the middle of the night between the man of my dreams, and the sweetest little girl with the cutest lil snores that I have ever heard. She has the sweetest breath and the sweetest face, and she loves to snuggle as much as I do. I don't know how I got to be this lucky. I never mind having to get up in the middle of the night, it just gives me more time to be with my little one. She is SO Precious.

Mama's Group
On Friday we got together again... it seems like the groups are getting smaller and smaller, although it is cold season so it's best for the sickies to stay home =) This week we decided to have the moms in the picture too, so we set up the camera on the timer. It was such a nice relaxing time. It's so nice to have the support of others that are going through the same things at the same time. Punki wasn't feeling very well, and now I know that it's because she was getting her first cold!! I woke up Friday night to her nose sounding stuffy and I could tell she wasn't breathing well. I hope she didn't get anyone else sick!

Happy Valentines Day!
Happy Valentines Day! Today Adelaide seems to have a stuffy nose, hopefully not her first cold!! We tried the "warming socks" for her first nap, and are going to do it again tonight. It seemed to help. She is pretty grumpy today, so we are staying home where it's warm and quiet. We might get out for breakfast tomorrow or Monday because it's a THREE DAY WEEKEND!!! Myles got me Marry Poppins for Valentines Day, it's one of my favorite movies and I've been wanting to buy it! I love my little family more than anything and feel so lucky that we are all together today!

My dad is a Grandpa - and a homemade sweater
My dad finally was able to come up and meet his first grand baby. I think it might have been love at first sight =). We made this onion cheese bread together, and also set up the tripod for pictures because Myles was at work. We had such a good time and a nice visit, I hope we can do it again soon! Oh yeah - here is another sweater I knitted for Adelaide. It BARLEY fits her!!! When I finished it, it wouldn't pull over her head, so I had to pull the neck out and re-knit it! I'm hoping she can wear it a few times before it's no longer possible to squeeze her into it!!

My friend Callie sent this to me, and I thought it was rather appropriate now that I have my own baby.
To Those of You Born
1930 - 1979
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?
Because we were always playing..that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS or we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment.
Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it a ll.
If YOU are one of them? CONGRATULATIONS!
You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

What 10.5 weeks can do to a baby!!
Today I thought it would be funny to dress Adelaide up in the same thing we had her in when she was just born.
Here she is when she was only 2 days old.

She did WHAT in the toilet?
Some of my friends from the birthing class have been doing this thing called "Elimination Communication" where you put your baby over the toilet and they go to the bathroom there instead of their diapers. I thought it was kind of crazy, and didn't even consider learning about it at first, but then I started noticing that it was really working, so I started asking questions. Basically from what they have told me, babies are born knowing how to control their pee and bowels, but after going in a diaper for so long, they eventually loose the ability to use those muscles. It's like they forget how to do it and then you have to re- train them when they are being potty trained. My friend says you can do it, even just once a day, and that will help the baby keep the memory of how to control things down there. The part of it I like even more is that it's basically about communication between you and your baby. It's just one more way to know them a little bit better and to respond to what they are trying to tell you. I have been practicing attachment parenting from the beginning, and this is just one more part of it. I know it sounds crazy. Here is how it's supposed to work. I hang out with Adelaide either with no diaper on so I can see when she goes to the bathroom, or with just the cloth and no cover. When I see her pee then I'm supposed to make a pppssssssss sound. After a few days of this, I should be able to hold her over the toilet and make that sound, and if she needs to go then she will.
I had tried two times with no luck...but today..... I heard her let out some farts so I went to change her diaper and there was pee and a little poop in there. Then I took off her diaper and held her over the toilet. I started making farting noises and all of a sudden - SPLAT - she pooped straight into the toilet!!! I can't explain how excited I was about this because I really didn't think it would work. And Adelaide had the biggest smile and seemed so proud. I know it sounds like a crazy thing, but I was just so excited. I am going to continue trying to get better at reading her signals to me, and try this when we are at home and not too busy. If nothing else, it's one less diaper to wash. I think she was as excited as I was, so we will see how it goes. Here are some pictures Myles took of me holding her over the potty.

We love Fridays
Here are the pictures from our second play group meeting. It was great to get together with the mom's again and line all of the babies up from oldest to youngest. Once again Adelaide was the only girl, and this time is right in the middle! I really am excited for Fridays these days because I love seeing the changes that happen in just one week with these little guys. One day they will be big enough to play together. That will be funny!

Another snow storm
We were going to meet our friends for lunch downtown today, but the snow started falling around seven this morning and hasn't stopped. I love that we have had so much snow this winter. It makes it so fun to stay in and keep warm. I don't think the baby minds staying in. Here is a picture of her in front of the snow, and also a video of her being cute this morning! She is wearing the outfit her auntie Jess got for her =)
