First Dance Recital

Adelaide had her very first dance recital. Her dance class is very small, so there was only her and one other girl, and there was not a lot of practice before hand, so the whole thing was a bit of a mess. I think it was harder on me than it was on Adelaide, but it was still a really good night and a fun experience for us all. Even Lisa and Jamie got to come, it was their last night in town.

We all went out to dinner first at the Little Miss Delta. It was a yummy dinner of Southern Food.

Walking to the place for the recital - we were all so excited!

Watching the first performance. Adelaide was only the 3rd song in, so not much time to figure out how things work yet.

Adelaide and Clover - the two in her dance class.

Both laying down in the middle of their song, right before the teacher turned off the music only half way through. It was kind of a bad song choice because everyone kept thinking it was over when it wasn't. It didn't help that the girls weren't really moving around much =( The teacher was off to the side on stage, but they are used to her dancing with them, so it was all a bit confusing. Then there was a breakdown at the end because Adelaide didn't understand why the song stoped early. She did love being on stage though!!! Not sure if that is good or bad?!

Adelaide's first haircut

Usually my dad gets his haircut on June 1st (his birthday), but this year it was Punkie's turn. We had to tell Adelaide many times before Jamie came, that it will NOT hurt when she gets her hair cut, she was very worried about that. A huge thanks to Aunt Jamie for giving her a beautiful trim. It looks so pretty!
Assessing the situation

3 year olds don't hold their heads still for very long - I had to assist.

Good thing we have Adelaide to teach Emmylou how to brush her teeth. She loves it!

Nannabird and Jamie's visit

We had a slumber party!

There was lots of shopping involved

Adelaide got her first kid mani/pedi

Picking out her colors - she wanted BRIGHT red - I said only on her toes!

Adelaide had a great time getting her nails painted. I learned a very important lesson. Next time I want to do something nice for myself like get a pedicure - leave the girls at home. There was no manicure to be had when there is a baby in your arms, and Adelaide's patience is not long enough to get a nice leg massage. Thank you though to Lisa and Jamie for treating us to a wonderful day!

Scappoose

Some of our best friends in Portland moved to a beautiful place about 45 minutes from here. They have such an amazing forest surrounding their home on the mountain. Little Phoenix looks like he could be Adelaide's twin. We have known him since birth, and are so blessed to have him and his parents for our friends. We love them.

Rapunzel knows best!

Adelaide's Half Birthday

Because both of my girls have birthdays so close to Christmas, I have decided that while they are young we will celebrate their half birthdays as well. Not a big party like we do on the real birthday, but still, a fun day. Adelaide turned 3 and a half, so to celebrate I took her to Baskin Robbins and let her get her first clown cone. I didn't have the camera there, so missed out on the photo...but she had a blast and loved the sugar rush. I remember getting the clown cones when I was a kid, so wanted her to have that memory too. Then I let her do anything she wanted to, and she chose to go to Target (her favorite place on earth, sad to say) and pick out a gift. She has really been wanting a Rapunzel costume for many months, so I decided she could finally have it. Doesn't she look just like her?

Mothers Day Hike in the Gorge

We live in the most beautiful place on Earth. I am so blessed to be able to drive for a short time (30 min??) and get to this place that makes me feel renewed and alive. I love our home, and I love Oregon. I hope my babies love it too!

We forgot to bring the baby carrier, so I carried Emmylou for the 2 mile loop. It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be, and I think she felt just fine about it! It was her very first hike!
