Gifts from Aunt Jamie

My best friend in the whole world sent Adelaide some stuff for her birthday.
She got a book about a penguin, and it came with a stuffed penguin from the book. Adelaide was busy reading the story to him!

And then she got the foofy princess stuff. Adelaide LOVED it and ran all around the yard giggling. She melts my heart.

Papa Karl and Inez

My dad came up for Adelaide's party and Thanksgiving. Adelaide LOVED having him around. She got to spend a lot of time with him and really was happy. I love to see their relationship grow. One of the days we went down to Salem to visit Inez while she was in town at her daughters house. It was a great visit, and I'm glad she has got to see Adelaide grow!!

Birthday Party

Adelaide's birthday party was a blast! It always comes in like a tornado and is over before I know what happened, but it was so fun! I have honestly never seen Adelaide so happy, and she is a happy kid! Her granny and grandpa Jerry came up from California, and so did my dad, Grandpa Karl. She was SO EXCITED to have them all here in her house. It was just amazing to watch. It was a great mix of kids and families, and our grown up friends. Adelaide has such a special group of people that love and care about her, and I feel so happy about that. We had good food, and I warmed up some pear cider to drink, but my favorite part of the party was when we sang happy birthday. Adelaide stood up on a chair and held my hand, and I have never seen her face look so adorable. It was a mix of fear, and pride when she heard us all sing her name. I really wish I had a picture of that face, it was one of those moments I will always Carry with me.

Football (in jammies)

2 years old

Height - 34.5 inches %75
Weight - 25.5 pounds %50
Head - 19 inches %75

Adelaide talks non stop. If she isn't talking than she is singing. If she is in her room or playing alone in the living room she is still talking to her toys, the cat, me, or herself I guess. She will remember a song after only hearing it once, and really likes to sing now. Her favorite songs at the moment are Mary had a little Lamb, and Skip to my Lou. This morning I taught her "you better watch out, you better not cry....Santa Claus is coming to town" and she has been singing it all day. I only sang it to her once! OH - and Three Blind Mice. She loves that one too - and of course "Happy Birthday" is on the top of her list right now.

She is still a bit clumsy (like her mommy)but practices walking on her tip toes, backwards, etc. She still gets on her knees or butt to come down the stairs, and still is very cautious when going up the stairs. She likes to be upside down and also to thinks it's fun to crawl and walk on her knees (while we are grocery shopping...not very convenient!) She can throw and kick well, and is getting better all of the time. Her daddy got her a little football and a big girl soccer ball for her birthday. She loves to throw her football and then roll around on the floor like she has seen on TV. She thinks that is how to play football. It's really cute.

She loves to color and draw. She can make big circles and straight lines. Most of the time it's scribbles, although if she is drawing a face you can tell that she is putting the features in the correct spot, even though they are scribbles. She also really loves to play with the nesting dolls, and other tiny little toys. Her stuffed frog is still her favorite toy, and she loves to dress him and other dolls up. Actually she loves to take their clothes OFF and then make ME dress them up.

She is no longer napping, unless she is VERY sleepy and really needs one. She seems to do fine without, just a bit crazy at the end of the day, but then goes to bed early very easily.

Adelaide also had her first dental appointment which was really fun. The dentist office is just for children and had all kinds of fun things for her to play with. She got to ride on the chair, they gave her a balloon, a bath toy, toothbrush and toothpaste AND sent her a card to say thank you for coming in. Her teeth look good, which is a relief! We will go every 6 months so they can have a look, and so she gets used to being there. Right now she is getting her two year molars, so she is and will be teething for a little while.

Jai and Adelaide

One of Adelaide's favorite little friends is going to be coming over once a week for us to take care of him! This is Jai. He is about a week older than Adelaide. He's so sweet and smart, I think Adelaide has fun with him because they are really on the same level. I love to watch their friendship grow. They were making eachother laugh the whole time, it was awesome.

Buddha and his buddy

Adelaide spent almost an hour today playing with Buddha outside in the yard. I tried hard to stay out of her sight, because I think I distract her. She was really interested in picking up leaves and crunching them in her hands. She was investigating the rocks and gravel, dirt and plants. She was talking to Buddha the whole time, and he happily followed her around and listened to her. I'm so glad that she is being raised to love and respect animals the way both Myles and I do.
